The Viking sunstone was a navigational tool in the form of a crystal (such as the Iceland spar) used by old Norse sailors to determine the sun’s position … even when it was hidden by clouds or fog.
In our case, Sunstone refers to the sacred Sunstone Pipe which just as the original sunstones helped the old Norse, helps me with navigating and finding my way along an ever-changing spiritual landscape — helping me with forging a new spiritual path that fits the shape of the paths I now walk in this new world.
As a kid, I would walk in the woods dreaming of groves and trees yet had no idea about real druids, seidr nor any of the old ways.
Was lucky enough to originally be taught by two elders with the Bear Tribe Medicine Society and afterwards, a few members of the Aniyvwiya (Cherokee), Lakhota and Ojibewa peoples.
Later found similarities within my own European heritage and now follow old Northern Europe nature-based spiritual pathways, influenced by “Turtle Island” … ie. teachings from the Spirits, First Peoples and Natural World of this land mixed with those inspired by his own ancestors.
Basically, I am a Druid of Turtle-Island … a Norse-Pretani (Ancient British Isles) American Druid, exploring my own individual animistic path, and how it connects with the natural world and spiritual realms.
Although my ancestral roots may originate from elsewhere, I now find myself here in this New World, seeking to forge connections with this land and its many Spirits … through use of old & new world paths as well as others uniquely my own.
I was lucky in that the spirit of a sacred Pipe chose to help me in my personal journey.
